The American Youth Soccer Organization is proud
to announce that Region 1242 is currently being
restructured and will commence operations
shortly. The new Greater Ocala AYSO or GO AYSO!
will mark the return of the United States best
developmental soccer program to the greater
Ocala area.

Since 1964, AYSO has led the way in youth
sports. AYSO was the 1st youth sports
organization to mandate that every child must
play in every game and with the AYSO Kids Zone
program, every child is ensured a positive
environment to play soccer.
AYSO is developmental youth soccer and only AYSO
puts the children first. AYSO is governed by the
following five philosophies:
Everyone Plays- This is what AYSO is best
known for. Every child, regardless of skill
level or experience, must play a minimum of 1/2
of every game. This applies even in more
advanced AYSO play (tournaments, all-stars and
select programs also.)
Open Registration- Every child,
regardless of where they live is welcome to
register with AYSO.
Positive Coaching- AYSO only allows
positive coaching. Players will not be yelled at
or berated, and AYSO provides training to every
coach. Even if you have no soccer experience,
AYSO can help you learn the fundamentals of the
game and coach.
Good Sportsmanship- AYSO does not promote
a win-at-all-costs attitude, instead players are
encouraged to be respectful of the game, their
teammates and their opponents. Of course the
object of any game is to win, but in AYSO
winning and losing is far less important than
learning how to play soccer.
Balanced Teams- In the developmental
program, teams are created from scratch each
season, with players balanced according to skill
level. This encourages the children to grow as
players and prevents "stacked" teams which
discourage player growth at this level of play.
AYSO performs background checks on every
volunteer. AYSO will train any parent/adult that
wishes to coach, referee, be a board member or
otherwise volunteer, provided their background
check is clean.
Every volunteer accepted must complete the AYSO
Safe Haven course which has been put in place to
protect the children in the AYSO Soccer Program.
